Cheers!

2015 was one exciting year!  We went from being Eagle Liquor Mart to entering the new year with a new and larger space, lower prices, more selection, and a new name for the new store!
As we cheers to the past year, we are looking forward to 2016 and the fun it will bring. We will be doing more tastings and having educational opportunities in our tasting room, offering free deliveries from Vail to Gypsum with our new delivery van, getting more involved in our community, and of course getting a wider selection of wine, beer, and spirits in everyday at the best prices.

Join us as we sample some bubbles and kick off the celebrations at
Boones from 4:30-6:30pm this New Years Eve!

We are always happy to help with suggestions as you pick the bottle that you want to toast the night with. Also, check out our chalk wall in our dedicated tasting room to give you ideas for other fun cocktails to cheers with.

Some great deals on bubbles are happening in the store right now!

Taittinger La Francaise Brut –  $35.99  ( 90pts from Wine Enthusiast, ages on lees for almost 4 years in which the extra time allows the wine to reach an aromatic maturity)
La Marca Prosecco – $11.99 ( A non-vintage sparkling wine from Veneto, Italy with fresh citrus notes and flavors of green apple, grapefruit, and lemon)
Mumm Prestige Brut – $19.99 (Mumm Napa’s signature sparkling wine with bright citrus notes and a hint of honey)
Moet & Chandon Imperial Brut – $44.99 ( The largest champagne house in France. Moet en Chandon was founded in 1743 by Claude Moet)
J Vineyards Cuvee $26.99 (independently Sonoma County owned winery with hand harvested grapes of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier grapes)
  more specials in store!

A few things to keep in mind…

  • Remember that not all sparkling wines are champagne. Only sparkling wine from the Champagne region of France is officially allowed to be called “Champagne.” Different countries have different names for their sparkling wine. In Spain, they refer to their bubbles as “Cava” and in Italy the common types are “Prosecco” and “Asti.”
  • Store between 40-60 degrees fahrenheit. A champagne stopper is a great investment to make it last a little longer if you don’t plan on drinking the whole bottle.
  • If you need to chill it fast, try placing the bottle in a mixture of ice and water for 15-25 minutes!

Someday I hope to master the Saber method of opening the bottle, but the best way to open a bottle of sparkling wine is:
1. Remove the foil – use the blade of your wine opener to do so.
2. Tilt the bottle and hold at a 45 degree angle away from yourself and everyone around.
3. Hold the cork down with one hand and with the other twist the wire cage. (Twist the bottle and not the cork)
4. Then pop it, pour it, and make that toast!

Fun Facts

  • There are approximately 49 million bubbles in a standard 750 ml champagne bottle
  • The longest recorded flight for a champagne cork is over 177 feet
  • The smaller the bubbles often indicates that it is higher quality
  • The pressure in the bottle is 90lbs/square inch – which is the same as the pressure in a London Double-Decker Bus tire!
  • Dom Perignon Champagne is aged six to eight years before it is put on the market

Also, one final cheers to all of you. We are thankful for the wonderful customers and community that we have here. Thank you for supporting our locally owned and operated business and we look forward to seeing you next year! 😉
